This book is great. Where I'm from originally there is a huge Indian community and many Balti restaurants that sell Indian cuisine. The recipes in this book taste authentic to that experience, they give both the British and American words for ingredients and weights, and the Naan bread recipe is easily adaptable for a bread maker if you have one. It's beautifully illustrated with full color photos for each step and the instructions are very clear. If you pop into an Indian grocery store you can purchase the many spices used in the recipes for a fraction of the cost of buying them in a regular supermarket.I would highly recommend this cookbook if you are learning to make Indian food. It really opened my cooking skills up.Great recipes, if you enjoy Indian cuisine. Try the butter chicken recipe...a favorite of my family.Love it !Shehzad Husain's books are always a pleasure. They were impressed with my cooking skillsThis is a fantastic book (and trust me, I'm a cookbook maven)! It has a fantastic variety of authentic Indian cuisine. Beautifully presented on glossy colour pages. Each recipe has a full-page accompanying photograph which is great motivation for trying out different dishes and having some idea of what they will look like. Whilst I have several recipe books, I always come back to this one when i want to make some special Indian cusine and have got tons of compliments. Each recipe also has a little background info and its actual name. The ingredients list is organised in order of use and all the method is arranged with step-by-step instructions with photos for each step! My favourites include Lamb with Spinach (Saag Gosht) on p86. Bon appetit!I am buying a replacement copy of this. I was married to a Pakistani man and lived in Pakistan for a year. The only thing nice my mother in law ever said to or about me was that I was a better cook than most Pakistani women. And this book is the reason. I cooked almost every dish from the book and they all said I cook food like you find in a fancy restaurant. They loved it. Granted Pakistan is not India, maybe these dishes are more of a Pakistani flavor than Indian.Already had this book ! the purchase of 4(four) more copies were for family and friends. The best recipe book I’ve got. Makes making authentic Indian cuisine a piece of cake excuse the pun! and the results are mouth watering. Buy it!!
